Muzaffarpur hospital blaze kills 3 patients, leaves 20 injured
A massive cloudburst hit Chishoti village in the Padder sub-division of Jammu and Kashmir’s Kishtwar district on Thursday, affecting the route of the ongoing Machail Mata Yatra. The sudden downpour caused flash floods, washing away a community kitchen (langer) shed and raising concerns that several pilgrims may be trapped. The incident brought pilgrimage activities to a standstill in the affected area.
Rescue operations were immediately launched, with police and civil administration teams rushing to the site. Authorities reported that access to the affected region is challenging due to its remote location and difficult terrain. Officials are coordinating efforts to evacuate stranded pilgrims and provide relief, while continuing damage assessment and medical arrangements.
Union Minister Jitendra Singh confirmed he spoke with Kishtwar Deputy Commissioner Pankaj Kumar Sharma after being alerted by local MLA Sunil Kumar Sharma. He stated: “Massive cloud burst in Chishoti area, which could result in substantial casualty. Administration has immediately swung into action, rescue team has left for the site. Damage evaluation and necessary rescue and medical management arrangements are being made. My office is receiving regular updates, all possible assistance will be provided.” Authorities have not yet confirmed casualties, and rescue operations are ongoing.
