Boy’s body recovered, girl still missing after dispute in Anandpur

A youth and a young woman went missing on Monday evening near the China Mandir Khalpada area of Anandpur, where locals usually gather to learn bike and scooter riding. Witnesses said the two, who often came to the spot together, were seen arguing and shouting loudly. Soon after, locals heard a noise suggesting something had been thrown into the canal. Later that night, when the girl did not return home, her family began searching and found her scooter abandoned on the roadside.

Police launched a search operation and deployed divers in the canal from Monday night. During the initial search, a mobile phone was recovered, but there was no trace of the missing girl. On Tuesday morning, the body of the youth was recovered from the canal. The girl, however, remains untraced, and divers continued operations in the area throughout the day.

Eyewitnesses confirmed seeing the two quarrel before the disappearance, but no one intervened at the time. Family members joined the search late on Monday after the scooter was discovered. Authorities confirmed that the search for the missing girl is ongoing and said further investigation is underway into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
