Kasba Police in Kolkata have arrested two individuals from the film industry on serious charges of sexual exploitation. The arrests followed a complaint by a woman who came forward with detailed allegations of abuse spanning a considerable period. The case has cast a spotlight on the vulnerabilities faced by aspiring and working professionals within the industry, prompting a swift response from law enforcement authorities.
The complaint was officially filed at the Kasba Police Station on Monday, August 18. The woman informed the police that she had been sexually exploited by the two accused, starting in August 2023. Her statement alleged that the abuse was not a one-time incident but continued at various locations over time, highlighting a pattern of exploitation.
Based on the gravity of her allegations, Kasba Police immediately registered a First Information Report (FIR). The case, bearing number 383, was officially registered on August 18, 2025, under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNSS), including 64, 351(2), and 61(2). The swift registration of the FIR signifies the police’s determination to investigate the matter thoroughly.
The two arrested individuals have been identified as SS Uddin, who is also known by the name Ricky, and Rajasree De. Both are reportedly connected to the film industry. Their arrests mark a significant development in the case and a step towards justice for the complainant.
