NCERT has launched a special teaching module titled “Operation Sindoor – A Mission of Honour and Bravery” to help students understand India’s response to terrorism and national security preparedness. The module is designed for classes 3 to 12 and explains how the nation coordinates defence, diplomacy, and technology in times of crisis.
The module covers India’s counter-terror operations after the Pahalgam attack in April 2025, which killed 26 people. It describes Operation Sindoor, launched on 7 May, as a “strong and clear response” to Pakistan-sponsored terrorism. Indian armed forces destroyed multiple terror camps across the border in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir through precision strikes.
It also highlights how local residents in Pahalgam condemned the attack and spoke out against terrorism, breaking stereotypes and showing solidarity with peace. The module notes the close coordination between the Chief of Defence Staff and the three service chiefs in executing the mission, with the Army destroying seven camps and the Air Force striking Muridke and Bahawalpur bases.
Further sections detail Pakistan’s retaliatory escalation on May 8 and how India’s integrated air defence systems, including S-400 and AKASH, successfully thwarted the attacks. The module concludes by emphasizing that Operation Sindoor was aimed at deterrence, not just retaliation, and includes Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s praise for the armed forces.
