Masked robbers loot gold from bank in Nadia at gunpoint

A private bank in a bustling area of Chakdaha was the target of a daring robbery on Tuesday evening. Two masked and armed criminals reportedly entered the bank on Chakdaha-Bongaon Road in Lalpur and fled with a significant amount of gold, leaving the local community in a state of alarm.

According to eyewitnesses and bank employees, the two masked men suddenly entered the bank at around 6 p.m. They immediately pulled down the main shutter and, using firearms, intimidated the staff present inside. The bank primarily provides loans against gold collateral, and the robbers’ target was the valuable gold stored on the premises.

The four bank employees who were on duty during the time of the incident were held at gunpoint. The criminals swiftly gathered all the gold ornaments and jewelry kept in the bank and packed them into two bags. Their operation was quick and well-planned, allowing them to escape before the employees could raise an alarm.

After grabbing the loot, the robbers pulled down the shutter from the outside as they left, trapping the bank staff inside for a short period. This move further delayed the bank employees from contacting the authorities and spreading the word about the robbery. Once the staff managed to call the police, a huge police force rushed to the scene.

Subsequently, Ashish Kumar Maurya, the Superintendent of Police of Ranaghat Police District, arrived at the bank to personally take charge of the investigation. He assured reporters that a thorough investigation had been launched and that the police were working to identify and apprehend the culprits.

The SP confirmed that the robbers had targeted the gold that was held as collateral for loans. He stated that the police are currently scrutinizing local CCTV footage and questioning eyewitnesses to gather clues. While the investigation is ongoing, no arrests have been made so far, and the exact value of the stolen gold is yet to be determined. The incident has caused widespread tension and concern throughout the entire area.
