A robbery was reported from Gate Bazaar in Ward 33 of Siliguri Municipal Corporation, where intruders allegedly sprayed a sedative chemical on a family and looted valuables. Seven members of the family, including two children, were found unconscious and admitted to hospital. Their condition remains under medical observation.
The incident took place at the residence of Jiten Mandal in the early hours of Wednesday. According to reports, the robbers entered the house, used the sedative spray to render the family unconscious, and escaped after stealing items. The exact details of the stolen property have not yet been confirmed.
The matter came to light when a relative noticed the house locked from outside and, on entering, found the family members lying unconscious. With assistance from local residents, they were rushed to hospital. Residents stated that the police reached the spot later in the day, and New Jalpaiguri police have since begun an investigation into the robbery.
