Continuous rainfall is expected across West Bengal throughout the week due to a deep depression over the Bay of Bengal. The system is likely to keep the sea rough for several days, prompting authorities to advise fishermen against venturing into the waters on August 22 and 23.
In South Bengal, light to moderate rain has been forecast for most districts on Wednesday. Rainfall intensity is predicted to rise from Thursday, with heavy showers in East Midnapore, North 24 Parganas, and South 24 Parganas. On Friday, heavy rainfall may occur in East Burdwan, Murshidabad, Nadia, North and South 24 Parganas, and East Midnapore.
In North Bengal, rainfall is expected to increase from Wednesday. Jalpaiguri, Alipurduar, and Kalimpong districts have been put on alert for heavy rain, with intense showers likely in Jalpaiguri and Alipurduar on Thursday and Friday. Kolkata will see overcast skies with one or two spells of light to moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning.
