Arup Biswas is fearing arrest! Skips' appearance in Messi case citing illness
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Monday arrested Trinamool Congress MLA Jiban Krishna Saha from his residence in Burwan, Murshidabad district, in connection with the alleged School Service Commission (SSC) assistant teacher recruitment scam. Officials said Saha is among those accused in the money laundering case linked to the scam.
During the raid, Saha allegedly attempted to escape by scaling the boundary wall of his house. He also tried to destroy evidence by throwing his mobile phone into a drainage channel, which was later recovered by the ED team.
The searches were carried out after investigators received information about a monetary transaction involving a man from Birbhum district connected to the recruitment scam. The man accompanied the ED team during the operation at Saha’s residence.
According to officials, Saha’s wife had earlier been questioned in the same case. After the arrest, the MLA is scheduled to be produced before a special court where the ED will seek his custody for further investigation into the alleged irregularities in teacher recruitment under the West Bengal School Service Commission.
