SSC protest leader and long-term hunger striker Suman Biswas was summoned to Bidhannagar East police station on Monday morning. He reached the station around 10 a.m. after police called him to discuss the upcoming September 1 SSC campaign and other related matters.
During questioning, Biswas told the police that the Supreme Court, in connection with the 2016 panel case, had directed recruitment of only eligible candidates. He alleged that instead of implementing this, the government has announced fresh form-filling and new examinations, which he said was unfair to those already qualified.
Police officials sought details about the campaign and aspects of the movement from Biswas. Security and administrative measures are being planned as the SSC agitation, involving teachers, education workers, waiting candidates, and long-term fasting protestors, is expected to escalate during the September 1 programme.
