A gold necklace theft from Salt Lake’s CF Block led to the arrest of a domestic help and a receiver. On August 20, 2025, resident Sunita Bhalotia lodged a complaint at Bidhannagar North police station, stating that her necklace had been stolen from her home. Based on the complaint, police initiated an investigation.
During questioning, the maid, identified as Falguni Bar, admitted to committing the theft. She revealed that she had sold the stolen gold necklace to Mahadev Sen, a resident of Basirhat. Following her confession, investigators proceeded to trace the receiver.
Investigating Officer Sheikh Shamim of Bidhannagar North police station, along with the accused maid, conducted a raid in Basirhat and arrested Mahadev Sen. Police recovered approximately 18 grams of gold from his possession, which they identified as belonging to the stolen necklace. Both the arrested individuals are scheduled to be produced before the Bidhannagar court.
