A 21-year-old married woman was found hanging at her residence in Anandapur police station area in morning. The deceased was identified as Mousumi Mandal, wife of Bipul Haldar, residing at 59B, East Panchannagram, VIP Nagar, Kolkata. Police received information at around 7:30 am from a house at 90, Prashanta Sur Nagar, and reached the spot.
According to officers, the woman’s body was found lying on the bed. A piece of sari was seen partially tied to the ceiling fan while the remaining part was on the floor. Her husband told police that around 6:45 am he went to the room, found the door bolted from inside, and after repeated calls went unanswered, forced the door open. He stated that he saw his wife hanging from the ceiling fan with the help of a sari.
He immediately cut the sari and brought her down before informing Anandapur police. Officials have sent the body for post-mortem examination to determine the cause of death. Police have started an investigation into the incident.
