PM will offer Anjali to Maa Durga this Ashtami in Kolkata, receives multiple invitations
The Supreme Court collegium has recommended the transfer of 14 high court judges across the country after meetings held on August 25 and 26. The proposal covers judges from Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Madras, Delhi, Allahabad, Gujarat, Kerala, Calcutta and other high courts.
The list includes Atul Shreedharan (Madhya Pradesh to Chhattisgarh), Sanjay Agrawal (Chhattisgarh to Allahabad), J Nisha Banu (Madras to Kerala), Avneesh Jhingan (Rajasthan to Delhi), Arun Monga (Delhi to Rajasthan), Sanjay Kumar Singh (Allahabad to Patna), Rohit Ranjan Agarwal (Allahabad to Calcutta), Manavendranath Roy (Gujarat to Andhra Pradesh), Donadi Ramesh (Allahabad to Andhra Pradesh), Sandeep Natvarlal Bhatt (Gujarat to Madhya Pradesh), Chandrasekharan Sudha (Kerala to Delhi), Tara Vitasta Ganju (Delhi to Karnataka), and Subhendu Samanta (Calcutta to Andhra Pradesh).
The transfers have triggered resistance in Gujarat, where the High Court Advocates’ Association passed a resolution opposing the transfer of Justice Sandeep Natvarlal Bhatt to Madhya Pradesh. Lawyers announced they would abstain from work in protest, calling the decision unjustified.
These recommendations come days after the collegium proposed the elevation of Bombay High Court Chief Justice Alok Aradhe and Patna High Court Chief Justice Vipul M Pancholi to the Supreme Court. The final decision on the transfers will depend on government approval.
