A school bus carrying 17 children caught fire in Meerut’s Partapur area on Wednesday afternoon, but all students escaped without injuries. The incident took place when the vehicle was returning from St. Patrick’s School after classes. The bus was carrying the driver, a helper, and 17 students at the time of the fire.
According to reports, a loud sound was heard from the bus shortly before smoke began to emerge. The driver immediately stopped the vehicle, and all children along with the helper evacuated safely. Within minutes, flames spread through the bus, turning it into a fireball.
The Uttar Pradesh Fire & Emergency Services confirmed the incident in an official statement: “Necessary action has been taken regarding the said incident and the fire has been completely extinguished. No casualties occurred in this incident.” Fire brigade teams reached the site and successfully controlled the blaze.
Police have registered the matter under the jurisdiction of Partapur police station. An investigation has been initiated to determine the exact cause of the fire, which is suspected to have resulted from a short circuit in the bus.
