No eviction drive in Burrabazar & College Street, clarifies KMC Commissioner
Trinamool Congress leader Abhishek Banerjee on Thursday stated that Mamata Banerjee’s government has transferred money to the accounts of 6.9 million people in Bengal. He said, “Those who are calling the people of Bengal ‘Bangladeshis’ will get a reply,” and criticized attempts to target the state politically.
Abhishek addressed those advocating for Mamata Banerjee’s removal, saying, “Those who talk about removing Mamata Banerjee from Bengal should first have fought the TMCP.” He reiterated his previous statement that if even one Bengali’s name is removed from the SIR, he will call one million people for a “Delhi Chalo” protest.
Regarding recent legal actions, Abhishek stated, “It is unfortunate that a section of the Calcutta High Court is trying to create darkness in the education sector to oppose the state government. But we have received a stay from the Supreme Court.” He emphasized Bengal’s cultural heritage, mentioning Rabindranath Tagore and Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar.
Abhishek also addressed political challenges in the state, saying, “Those who have declared war against Bengal will not get even a small piece of land. Bengal will not surrender to the Centre or the BJP. All institutions are against Trinamool, but 100 million people are with Trinamool.” He further issued a challenge to the BJP, stating, “If the BJP has the courage, it should cross 50 seats.”
