Two Trinamool Chhatra Parishad supporters were injured after being attacked with a sharp weapon inside a Baruipur–Howrah local train near Liluah station on Thursday. The injured were identified as Arnab Roy, Ward 11 president of Dankuni Municipality’s student wing, and Siddhartha Roy, student leader of Ward 21. Both were travelling to Kolkata to attend the Trinamool Chhatra Parishad Foundation Day programme.
The two alleged that the assault occurred when they raised Trinamool slogans inside the train compartment. Passengers reported that the attacker fled after the incident. The victims were first taken to Howrah Hospital for primary treatment and later shifted to a Kolkata hospital for further medical care. Their condition is currently stable, according to hospital sources.
Railway Police have started an investigation into the incident. Statements are being recorded from the injured and other passengers who witnessed the attack. Efforts are underway to trace the accused, and security along the route has been tightened.
