The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has filed the final chargesheet in the SSC Group C recruitment scam before the Special CBI Court in Alipore. The chargesheet includes 29 accused, among them former Education Minister Partha Chatterjee, former SSC Chairman Subiresh Bhattacharya, and former advisor Shantiprasad Sinha.
The 40-page document contains both previously submitted information and new evidence gathered during the ongoing investigation. It lists several audio and video recordings obtained by the CBI, along with voice samples recently collected from the accused to strengthen the legal case.
The Supreme Court had previously directed that hearings in this high-profile recruitment corruption case commence within a fixed timeframe. Acting on the order, the CBI submitted the final chargesheet promptly to ensure compliance with the court’s directive.
While Partha Chatterjee, Subiresh Bhattacharya, and Shantiprasad Sinha recently secured bail from the Supreme Court, Partha Chatterjee has not been released due to ongoing investigations related to multiple primary teacher recruitment corruption cases.
Amid the ongoing legal process, the School Service Commission has issued a new recruitment notification. The SSC stated that 2,989 Group C and 5,488 Group D positions will be filled under the fresh recruitment drive. Legal experts note that the filing of the final chargesheet is expected to expedite the trial proceedings in the case.
