An Army soldier was killed in an accidental firing incident in Jammu and Kashmir’s Ganderbal district on Saturday night. Officials said the incident occurred when Constable Chhotu Kumar of the Rashtriya Rifles jumped from a truck after reaching the Manasbal area. His service rifle discharged accidentally during the movement.
“The trigger of his rifle got pressed accidentally and Constable Kumar received bullet injury below the chin, resulting in his death on the spot,” officials stated. The incident led to immediate response from security personnel present at the site.
The body of Constable Kumar was later shifted for required legal and military formalities before being handed over for further arrangements. The matter has been reported to higher military authorities for necessary action.
