Muzaffarpur hospital blaze kills 3 patients, leaves 20 injured
The Meteorological Department has forecast that while rainfall may ease slightly this week, its intensity will increase again towards the end of September. The department’s latest report indicates that Bengal is likely to experience above-normal rainfall in the last two weeks of the month.
According to the forecast, showers are expected to gradually intensify between September 19 and 25, coinciding with the week of Mahalaya. Following this, heavy rainfall has been projected between September 25 and October 2, a period crucial for Durga Puja preparations.
The prospect of sustained rain has sparked concern among potters and artisans engaged in making Durga idols. With clay structures still drying in the open, uncertainty over whether the weather will allow proper finishing has become a major worry.
The Met department has not specified exact dates of the heaviest spells but has warned that rainfall in this period will be higher than usual, with blue zones in its rainfall map marking areas at particular risk.
