Court sends Councilor Mahesh Sharma to 6-day police custody in extortion case
Eco Park police have successfully arrested five individuals involved in thefts, recovering multiple stolen items in separate incidents. On Wednesday morning, Rezaul Hasan lodged a complaint that his mobile phone was stolen while travelling on a bus along the Barasat-Jatragachhi route. Following the complaint, police launched an investigation and arrested four accused — Sheikh Firoz alias Israel Baksh, Sheikh Tajuddin, Moshiyar Rahman, and Raj Kumar Sarkar — recovering seven stolen mobile phones from their possession. The search for other absconding accomplices continues.
In a separate case, Sikandar Kumar Das reported the theft of his electric scooter parked outside his home at night. Acting on the complaint, police arrested Madhu Ghosh and successfully recovered the stolen scooter during custody.
Police confirmed that further investigations are underway to trace additional stolen property and apprehend any remaining suspects. These operations reflect the police’s ongoing efforts to curb theft in the area and ensure swift action against criminals.
