Bengal Govt elevates IPS Ajay Mukund Ranade to DGP (Law and Order)
A major tragedy was narrowly averted in Kolkata on Monday after a government bus suddenly burst into flames on a highway, but miraculously, it was saved from a major accident because there were no passengers on board. The horrific incident caused widespread panic and a traffic standstill as commuters watched the vehicle being engulfed in a raging inferno. The bus, which was completely gutted, turned into a skeleton of metal and ashes in a matter of minutes.
The incident took place in the Joramandir area of Baguio. The government-operated AC bus was on its way from Salt Lake to the airport when the fire started. The bus was empty, and the absence of passengers proved to be a lifesaver, preventing what could have been a catastrophic event. Upon seeing the burning vehicle, other cars on the busy highway immediately stopped, creating a huge commotion and blocking traffic.
As the flames grew, local authorities were alerted. The Baguio police station quickly dispatched officers to the scene, and two fire engines also arrived to battle the blaze. Despite their swift response, the intense fire had already consumed the entire bus. Firefighters worked tirelessly to bring the fire under control and cool down the charred remains of the vehicle.
While the fire was eventually extinguished, the cause of the blaze remains a mystery. Authorities have launched an investigation to determine what led to the sudden fire, but initial speculation points towards a possible technical malfunction or a short circuit. The incident has raised serious questions about the maintenance and safety standards of government buses in the city.
