Bengal Govt elevates IPS Ajay Mukund Ranade to DGP (Law and Order)
Ten days after the murder of municipal employee Javed Bari, police in Asansol have arrested four shooters allegedly involved in the killing. Bari, a class IV employee at the Kulti Borough Office of Asansol Municipal Corporation, was shot dead late on August 29 in Rehman Pada under Niyamatpur Police Station area. The assailants, who came on a motorcycle, fled under the cover of darkness, but the crime was captured on CCTV cameras.
Police had earlier arrested Bari’s cousin Farah Naz, her cousin Itkab, and his nephew Faizal Sheikh Syed for their suspected role in planning the murder. On Monday, the investigation made a breakthrough with the arrest of four shooters identified as Mohd. Sultan Alam, Mohd. Adil, Mohd. Ehasan, and Mohd. Faizal — all residents of Railpar under Asansol North Police Station.
According to officials, another accomplice, Mohd. Chand, remains absconding. Investigators also revealed that the contract for the killing was allegedly given by Bari’s brother-in-law Asif Khan, who is still on the run. A search has been launched to trace both absconding accused.
The arrests have brought significant progress in the case, though police say efforts are ongoing to bring the masterminds and missing shooters into custody.
