For the last several days, South Bengal has been grappling with unpredictable weather, alternating between heavy rainfall and intense heat. After showers stopped on Sunday, residents woke up to uncomfortable humidity and soaring temperatures on Monday, making daily life difficult.
According to the Alipore Meteorological Department, dry conditions are expected to prevail across most districts of South Bengal on Monday. Only light rainfall is likely in a few areas, but no heavy showers are predicted. The oppressive humidity, however, is expected to remain the main discomfort for residents.
Weather officials said the situation is likely to change from Tuesday as rising heat and moisture could trigger thunderstorms and strong winds across multiple districts. From Wednesday to Thursday, light to moderate rain is expected in all districts, including Kolkata, providing some relief after days of sticky weather.
Authorities have advised people to stay prepared for fluctuating conditions as the region transitions into a more active monsoon phase in the coming days.
