A police constable lost his life in a tragic road accident in Bagnan on the night of September 4, when a truck loaded with fish crushed him. The driver abandoned the vehicle and fled from the spot, leaving the constable critically injured. Despite efforts, the constable could not survive.
After four days on the run, the accused driver, identified as Noor Ali Sheikh, was arrested on Tuesday from the Tikiyapara area of Howrah. According to police, he was attempting to escape when a team managed to track him down and take him into custody.
Officials confirmed that Sheikh is being interrogated, and a formal case has been registered against him. Further legal action has been initiated as investigations continue into the circumstances of the accident.
