Panic gripped Barrackpore on Sunday midnight when gunshots were heard outside BN Basu Hospital on BT Road. Patients and their families inside the hospital were left terrified after three rounds of firing echoed near the premises.
According to police, around 12 o’clock at night, three youths opened fire in the air just outside the hospital. The sudden gunfire created chaos, but the policemen stationed nearby acted swiftly. As the accused attempted to flee, they were chased and caught near Tata Gate.
The arrested youths have been identified as Arman Ansari, Shahbaz Ansari, and Vishwajit Tiwari, all residents of Khardah. A pistol was recovered from their possession. However, the motive behind the firing is still unclear, and police are investigating further.
