Tension gripped Jagatballabhpur in Howrah after insects were allegedly found in the mid-day meal served at Jagannathpur Anganwadi Centre. Parents of the children claimed that the khichdi given to them was crawling with insects, sparking outrage in the locality.
The angry parents staged a road protest by throwing rice on the streets, demanding strict action against the centre management. They accused the authorities of negligence and said that playing with the health of small children would not be tolerated.
The protest, which broke out in a crowded area, quickly created chaos and drew the attention of passersby. The situation grew tense as locals joined the agitation, raising their voices against the poor quality of food being provided under the scheme.
Police from Jagatballabhpur station rushed to the spot and spoke to the parents to bring the situation under control. The matter was also reported to the concerned authorities for further action.
