The cyber police have arrested eight people from Andal in connection with a fraud racket that lured people with fake advertisements on social media. The arrests took place in South Bazaar Asgarpali after the police raided a house based on secret information.
Cyber crime officer Vishwajit Mukherjee said that a complaint had been received against a gang in Andal for cheating people through misleading online ads. Acting on the complaint, the cyber department traced the suspects and carried out the arrests on Wednesday.
