Red Road closure for Yoga-Day to continue; HC orders complete reopening after event ends
A 50-year-old Indian man was brutally beheaded in a horrific act of violence at a Dallas motel on Wednesday. The victim, identified as Chandra Nagamallaiah, was attacked in front of his wife and son following a trivial dispute over a washing machine. The shocking incident, which was caught on video, has left the local community and law enforcement in a state of disbelief over its sheer brutality.
According to a police affidavit, the gruesome attack unfolded after Nagamallaiah, who worked at the Downtown Suites motel, approached Yordanis Cobos-Martinez and a female colleague. Nagamallaiah reportedly instructed them not to use a broken washing machine. The situation spiraled out of control when Cobos-Martinez became enraged, not by the instruction itself, but because Nagamallaiah asked the female colleague to translate what he was saying instead of addressing him directly.
The horrifying video captures Cobos-Martinez's chilling response. He is seen leaving the room, pulling out a machete, and launching an assault on Nagamallaiah. The victim desperately ran through the motel's parking lot screaming for help, but the suspect chased him down relentlessly. Despite the victim's frantic attempts to escape, Cobos-Martinez continued his assault, striking him repeatedly with the weapon.
Police have since arrested Yordanis Cobos-Martinez, a 37-year-old Cuban national, and charged him with capital murder. The Department of Homeland Security has issued a statement identifying the suspect as a migrant with a criminal history who was "released" by a previous administration because Cuba would not accept him for deportation. His past includes convictions for serious crimes, including grand theft and false imprisonment.
The arrest affidavit reveals further sickening details. After Nagamallaiah fell, his wife and son tried to intervene and stop the assault, but Cobos-Martinez pushed them away and continued the attack. He then took the victim's key card and cellphone before resuming the assault until the victim's head was severed. Disturbingly, the suspect was then seen kicking the severed head before picking it up and discarding it in a trash bin.
