A tragic incident has come to light after a student of R.G.Kar Medical College, Anindita Soren, died at Malda Medical College Hospital. Her family has filed a complaint at English Bazar police station, accusing her boyfriend of abetting suicide.
The accused, Ujjwal Soren, is also an MBBS student at Malda Medical College and is currently absconding. Anindita, a resident of Balurghat in South Dinajpur, had come to Malda to meet Ujjwal, whose family is from Purulia. The two had reportedly met earlier through social programs and social media.
According to the family, Anindita fell ill after reaching Malda and was admitted to the hospital, where she allegedly did not receive proper treatment. The family claims her boyfriend instigated her to take the extreme step. The body has been sent for post-mortem to ascertain the exact cause of death.
Police from English Bazar station have launched an investigation and are searching for Ujjwal. The case has sparked tension among the student community in both medical colleges.
