Tension gripped a residential complex on Christopher Road in Tangra after a group of outsiders created chaos around midnight. Locals alleged that a group of young men, who did not belong to the society, shut the main gate and played football through the night inside the premises.
When security guards attempted to intervene, the situation turned violent. Nearly 300 people entered the complex, vandalized property, and used elevators to reach the 10th floor, ringing doorbells and kicking apartment doors on their way down. CCTV footage reportedly captured the group entering the lifts.
The Tangra police were alerted when matters escalated, and a team rushed to the spot to bring the situation under control. While no arrests have been made yet, residents lodged a formal complaint at the Tangra police station.
Angry over the incident, locals staged a road blockade on Christopher Road the following evening, demanding strict action. Residents said they no longer feel safe in their own homes and accused the authorities of inaction.
