RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav announced a historic pledge on Thursday that his party’s government will ensure a government job for at least one member of every household in Bihar that currently lacks one. The Leader of Opposition promised to pass the necessary legislation within just 20 days of the Mahagathbandhan (Grand Alliance) forming the government, and further guaranteeing that every eligible family will have a government job within 20 months.
He confirmed that the RJD has already conducted extensive surveys and collected data on all such families. Yadav stressed that this is not a case of "jumlebaazi"—a Hindi term for fake promises—and asserted that his track record during his previous 17-month tenure as Deputy Chief Minister provides sufficient proof of his credibility.
Yadav directly challenged his critics, particularly those who questioned his earlier promises regarding unemployment. He pointed out that during his brief stint in government, the administration successfully worked towards providing 5 lakh government jobs, with appointment letters already handed over for 3.5 lakh of those posts.
The RJD leader also launched a scathing attack on the incumbent Bihar government, accusing it of neglecting the crucial issue of employment for the past two decades. He specifically recalled the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) claim of offering "19 lakh employment opportunities," which he dismissed as unfulfilled rhetoric, stating that despite two years in power, no actual jobs materialized from that announcement.
