2nd Hooghly bridge to be partially shut on Saturday, Sunday for cabling work | See timings

The Vidyasagar Setu (Second Hooghly Bridge) is scheduled for partial closures this upcoming weekend to facilitate crucial maintenance work. The maintenance schedule has been specifically timed for the weekend, October 11 and 12, to mitigate disruption, although commuters are still advised to note the controlled hours.

On Saturday, October 11, the bridge will be entirely closed to all traffic during the morning rush hours, specifically from 5:00 AM to 9:00 AM. The closure schedule on the following day, Sunday, October 12, has been extended and shifted to the afternoon and evening. On Sunday, the bridge will be inaccessible for five hours, starting from 3:00 PM and lasting until 8:00 PM.

All traffic typically heading westward from Kolkata towards Howrah via the Vidyasagar Setu will be rerouted towards the Howrah Bridge (Rabindra Setu). Traffic from AJC Bose Road heading toward Kidderpore will be redirected via Turf View Road and Strand Road to the Howrah Bridge.

Similarly, eastbound traffic coming from Kidderpore will be forced to turn left at Hastings Crossing and proceed through St. George’s Road before ascending the Howrah Bridge.
