A young man has been arrested in Burdwan for allegedly engaging in obscene acts with a woman while she was travelling in an e-rickshaw. The accused, identified as Santosh Vishwas, also known as Babu Vishwas, was produced before the Burdwan court today.
The incident came to light after a video of the act went viral on social media, sparking widespread outrage across the district. In the video, the man could be seen riding a motorcycle alongside the woman’s e-rickshaw, exposing himself and engaging in indecent behaviour. The woman later shared the video online and filed a formal complaint with the Burdwan police station.
Following the complaint, the police swiftly traced and arrested the accused. According to family members, including his wife and daughter, Santosh Vishwas has been suffering from mental illness. The police are investigating the case and verifying the medical claims made by the family.
