A violent incident near Santoshpur railway station has left one person seriously injured after being stabbed in the neck in broad daylight. The attacker, who tried to flee the scene, was caught by local residents and handed over to the Rabindranagar police.
The injured person, identified as Sheikh Nuruddin, was reportedly drinking near the railway tracks with another man when the assailant suddenly attacked him from behind with a knife. Witnesses said the attacker appeared to be wearing a mask and glasses during the assault. Nuruddin collapsed immediately and was rushed to a nearby hospital, where his condition remains critical.
Locals managed to chase and capture the unidentified assailant before he could escape. Police later arrived and took him into custody for questioning. Investigators are probing whether the attacker had any prior connection with Nuruddin.
Residents described the incident as shocking and said they had never seen the accused in the area before. Police are now questioning witnesses and residents to determine the motive behind the attack.
