Panic gripped Dumdum’s Chhatakal area after the body of a woman was found inside a flat at Grihashri Awas on Friday morning. Police from Nagerbazar police station rushed to the spot and discovered the woman, identified as Beauty Bose, lying in a pool of blood. Preliminary investigation revealed that her husband, Amit Bose, strangled her to death before fleeing with cash in the early hours of the morning.
According to police, the couple lived with their 10-year-old son in a rented flat on the second floor. The two had been embroiled in frequent domestic disputes. Around 3 a.m., Amit allegedly killed his wife in front of their son. Terrified, the child began screaming, drawing the attention of neighbors who immediately informed the police.
The police rescued the minor and recorded his statement. The child reportedly witnessed the gruesome act. The body of Beauty Bose has been sent for post-mortem to determine the exact cause of death. Police have launched a manhunt to trace Amit Bose, who remains absconding.
