A horrifying incident has shaken Dum Dum’s Taraknath Colony, where a man was allegedly set on fire late Thursday night following the Kali Puja immersion. The victim, identified as Ranjeet Karmakar, reportedly the son-in-law of a local family, sustained severe burn injuries after being attacked by a group of individuals.
According to initial reports, Ranjeet was standing near the locality after the immersion ceremony when he was suddenly surrounded by a group of men who poured petrol on him and set him ablaze. Panic spread through the area as locals rushed to extinguish the flames and rescue the victim.
Ranjeet was immediately taken to a nearby hospital in critical condition. Police have begun an investigation to identify the attackers and determine the motive behind the incident. Preliminary suspicions point to a possible personal dispute, but officials are yet to confirm any leads.
