Muzaffarpur hospital blaze kills 3 patients, leaves 20 injured
A man in Indore has been arrested for stalking and molesting members of the Australian women’s cricket team ahead of their ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup match. The incident occurred on Thursday morning when two players stepped out of their hotel on Khajrana Road to visit a nearby café. The accused, identified as Akil Khan, followed them on a motorcycle and allegedly touched one of the cricketers inappropriately before fleeing.
The players immediately informed their team’s security officer, who alerted local police. Assistant Commissioner of Police Himani Mishra recorded their statements, and an FIR was registered at the MIG Police Station under sections 74 and 78 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, pertaining to outraging a woman’s modesty and stalking. A bystander’s quick action in noting the motorcycle’s registration number helped police track down and arrest the accused within 24 hours.
Police confirmed that Akil Khan, the arrested man, has multiple criminal cases registered against him. Authorities have assured that a detailed investigation is underway and that all necessary support has been extended to the Australian team.
The incident occurred just before Australia’s last group-stage match against South Africa at Indore’s Holkar Stadium. Both teams have already qualified for the semi-finals, and the result of the match will decide who tops the group.
