Bidhannagar Mayor Krishna Chakraborty resigns, another massive blow to TMC
In a major breakthrough, the Golabari police in Howrah have arrested Murtaza Ali, the alleged mastermind of the Iranian gang responsible for a series of bike thefts and robberies across West Bengal. The gang is believed to have orchestrated multiple thefts and snatching incidents in various districts, using stolen motorcycles to commit their crimes.
According to police, the gang’s crime spree on July 12, 2025, began early in the morning when they stole a bike from the Golabari area, followed by another theft in Howrah and Bowbazar within hours. Later that day, they struck again in Barasat, Madhyamgram, and Baguihati, targeting gold jewelry and other valuables. The group’s pattern of swift movement across districts complicated early investigations.
Police traced a mobile phone used during one of the robberies, which led investigators to Delhi. With assistance from the Delhi Crime Branch, two suspects were arrested, including the gang’s kingpin, Murtaza Ali. The accused has since been brought back to West Bengal for interrogation as authorities work to identify other members of the nationwide network
