HC refuses to order Sonam Wangchuk's discharge, says Govt intervention 'not arbitrary'
The Test Identification (TI) parade report in the Durgapur rape case has revealed crucial details, with the victim identifying the person who allegedly raped her. The development has given a new direction to the investigation, as the victim’s lawyer, Partha Ghosh, claimed that the accused identified by the victim is not her classmate but another person. According to him, all those arrested so far were involved in the incident in some way.
The case, which has drawn widespread attention, will have its next hearing on October 31. As per the report, the victim stated that on the day of the incident, she had voluntarily left the college campus with her classmate, Wasif Ali. She alleged that Ali took her to a secluded forest area and attempted to sexually assault her without her consent.
At that moment, three unidentified men arrived and allegedly demanded money from them. In the chaos that followed, Ali fled the scene, leaving the girl behind. The victim tried to escape, but the men caught her, and one of them raped her. Police have arrested multiple individuals in connection with the case, and further investigation is underway to verify their roles based on the TI parade results.
