Arrest warrant issued against Abhishek Banerjee's PA Sumit Roy
A major scare unfolded at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport on Tuesday afternoon when a CNG-powered passenger bus caught fire near an aircraft at Terminal 3. The bus, belonging to ground handling company AISATS, was stationary when it suddenly went up in flames around 1 PM. Fortunately, no passengers were on board at the time, and the fire was swiftly extinguished by the airport’s fire response team.
Airport authorities confirmed that the blaze was brought under control within minutes, preventing any damage to nearby aircraft or disruption to operations. In a statement, Delhi Airport said, “The bus was stationary and vacant at the time of the incident. There were no injuries or casualties, and all airport operations continue as normal.”
According to DCP IGI Vichitra Veer, only the driver was present inside the bus when the fire broke out. Fire tenders, CISF personnel, and local police immediately reached the spot to contain the flames. Officials said an inspection will be conducted to determine the exact cause of the fire.
Visuals circulating online showed the bus engulfed in flames just a few metres away from an Air India aircraft, heightening concerns over airside safety. The situation was controlled within 2–3 minutes, ensuring no damage to life or property.
