Controversial former MLA and JD(U) candidate from Mokama, Anant Singh, was arrested by the Patna Police early Sunday morning. The arrest is in connection with the murder of Dularchand Yadav, a worker of the Jan Suraaj party, who died during an election campaign clash on Thursday.
Led by the Patna Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), a police team reached Singh's residence in Barh and took him into custody. Anant Singh had been under intense scrutiny since the killing of Yadav, who was campaigning for Jan Suraaj candidate Piyush Priyadarshi when the fatal clash with Singh's sympathizers occurred near Patna. Following his arrest, Singh was immediately brought to Patna for intensive questioning.
The police operation also resulted in the arrest of two other individuals, Manikant Thakur and Ranjeet Ram, both of whom were reportedly present at the scene during the incident. The autopsy report revealed that the cause of death was not a gunshot but rather a ruptured lung and multiple rib fractures, injuries consistent with a brutal physical assault.
