No eviction drive in Burrabazar & College Street, clarifies KMC Commissioner
Twenty-nine individuals sustained injuries after a tempo traveller overturned violently near Kumarsain, approximately 81 kilometres from Shimla, during the early hours of Sunday morning. The incident, which occurred around 1 am, involved a tempo traveller that was en route to the Nepal border at Rupaidiha in Uttar Pradesh's Bahraich, carrying passengers almost entirely composed of Nepalese nationals.
Police reported that the driver, who was the sole non-Nepalese national among the injured, lost control of the vehicle. The accident took place on National Highway 5 (NH-5) near a stretch known as Dogra Mandi. Investigators currently believe the driver failed to manage a sharp curve on the highway, causing the vehicle to lose stability and overturn.
A police team from the Kumarsain station was quickly dispatched to the site immediately after receiving the accident report. Their prompt action, aided by locals, was crucial in the initial rescue operation. Critical patients were quickly referred and shifted to the major medical facility in the state capital, the Indira Gandhi Medical College and Hospital (IGMCH) in Shimla, for advanced and specialised care.
