In the bustling lane of South Kolkata's Topsia area, what started as a seemingly trivial spat over a motorcycle's parking spot erupted into a shocking act of violence late Sunday night, leaving two young men fighting for their lives in the hospital. Around 10 PM on Topsia's Abinash Chaudhuri Lane, under Kareya police station, Mohammad Hanif and Mohammad Ziauddin had heated argument over a bike which was blocking the narrow lane Before anyone could intervene, Ziauddin allegedly pulled out a knife, slashing at Hanif that turned the quiet lane into a chaotic frenzy of blood.
The attack was swift and brutal, with Hanif sustaining deep wounds across his body that required immediate emergency care. Amid clash, accused Ziauddin also sustained injuries to his hand. Both were rushed to National Medical College, where doctors described their conditions as critical—Hanif battling severe blood loss and Ziauddin nursing his self-inflicted injury alongside the shock of the brawl.
Ziauddin sustained the injury inadvertently during the attack. Kolkata police have already taken him into custody. Investigators are digging deeper into the feud, questioning if old grudges simmered beneath the surface or if it was purely a case of misplaced frustration. This incident serves as a stark reminder of how everyday annoyances can spiral into tragedy, prompting calls from locals for better community mediation and parking solutions in Kolkata's bustling areas.
