Telangana's Hyderabad-Bijapur highway turned into a scene of unimaginable devastation today when a routine Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) bus packed with 70 passengers from Tandur in Vikarabad district collided with a truck laden with construction material. The gravel loaded on the truck fell into the bus, burying several passengers. The incident occured 60 kilometers from the state capital Hyderabad. In Rangareddy district's bustling corridor, the collision ripped through the bus's front, burying the driver and six rows of seats under tons of gravel, transforming a simple commute into a frantic fight for breath amid screams echoing off the asphalt.
20 people lost their lives in this devastating accident including a 10-month-old infant with 10 women.The driver and the six rows behind his seat were the worst-hit, and most passengers in this part of the bus died on the spot. As per reports, several passengers injured in the accident were shifted to a government hospital. The condition of some of the injured is critical. Eyewitnesses recounted the chaos—a thunderous crash followed by dust clouds that choked the air, with survivors gasping for air as gravel shifted like quicksand, claiming lives in agonizing minutes.
Telangana's leadership mobilized with quiet resolve—Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy xpressed sorrow over the road accident and has directed officials to reach the spot immediately and support rescue and relief operations while Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar grilled the TSRTC chief on the crash's roots, from overloading to oversight gaps, ensuring every injured soul received top-tier care without delay.
