Muzaffarpur hospital blaze kills 3 patients, leaves 20 injured
Commuters faced major inconvenience on Tuesday afternoon after Kolkata Metro services were disrupted on the Blue Line due to a reported track issue near Maidan. Services between Central and Tollygunge were suspended from 2:19 pm, while limited operations continued on other stretches.
According to officials, water accumulation on the tracks near Maidan led to the disruption. Metro operations are currently running on a split route — from Dakshineswar to Central in the north and from Mahanayak Uttam Kumar (Tollygunge) to Shahid Khudiram in the south. The interruption brought the busy afternoon schedule to a halt, stranding hundreds of passengers at stations.
When reporters visited Chandni Chowk Metro station around 3 pm, the gates were found closed and announcements confirmed suspension of both up and down services. Maintenance teams were deployed immediately to inspect and repair the affected stretch.
Authorities said that normal services would resume once the issue is resolved and safety checks are complete. Commuters have expressed frustration over frequent technical snags disrupting Metro operations in recent months.
