Social media platform Reddit faced a massive outage on Tuesday, affecting thousands of users across multiple countries, including the United States and India. The disruption began in the evening, preventing users from accessing posts, comments, and other features on the platform.
According to outage tracking site Downdetector, more than 20,000 users in the US and around 500 in India reported problems while using Reddit. Many users took to other social media platforms to share screenshots and express frustration over the disruption.
Reddit acknowledged the issue on its official status page and confirmed that engineers had identified the cause. “The issue has been identified and a fix is being implemented,” the company said, adding that services were gradually being restored.
This outage comes just weeks after a major disruption in Amazon Web Services (AWS), which had also caused several apps, including Reddit, to face downtime. The platform assured users that it was taking all necessary steps to restore full functionality as soon as possible.
