Mumbai Customs officials have seized narcotic substances worth over ₹13 crore and foreign currency equivalent to ₹87 lakh in a series of operations at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA). The seizures were made between October 31 and November 3 during five separate, intelligence-led operations.
According to officials, the operations were based on passenger profiling and specific inputs. In four cases, passengers arriving from Colombo and Bangkok were caught with hydroponic weed concealed in trolley bags, shampoo bottles, and food packets. The total quantity of drugs recovered amounts to nearly 13 kg, valued at over ₹13 crore.
In another case, a passenger arriving from Dubai was found carrying undeclared foreign currency equivalent to ₹87 lakh, hidden in a trolley bag. All five passengers were arrested — four under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985, and one under the Customs Act, 1962.
Officials confirmed that all accused have been taken
