Has the SIR process spooked the illegal Bangladeshi residing in West Bengal? What happened in Newtown says something similar. As per reports, several families residing in the slum area near Gate No. 6 of the Eco Park have vacated their dwellings in the middle of the night. Interestingly, the locals claim that they were actually Bangladeshi citizens. It has also been said that these people have managed to get Indian documents like Voter Cards.
The slum area has now become deserted in where thousands used to reside. A local woman said that she has been watching for the past few days as people are fleeing. They are probably scared that something will happen. Some even claim that a few women among them used to do maid work. They also have fled along with their families, and locks now hang on those doors.
The location where these slums are located is under the HIDCO. No remarks have been made from the administration on this incident yet, but the locks on the doors are telling the story loud and clearly.
