Veteran Bollywood actor Dharmendra has been placed on ventilator support at Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital after being admitted over a week ago with complaints of breathlessness. The 89-year-old actor, who will turn 90 on December 8, is under close medical supervision, according to family sources.
Dharmendra, one of Indian cinema’s most celebrated stars, underwent an eye graft surgery earlier this year in April. His health has been under observation since, with periodic hospital visits.
Known for his memorable performances in Sholay, Chupke Chupke, Dharam Veer, and Mera Gaon Mera Desh, Dharmendra’s career has spanned over six decades. He made his debut in 1960 with Dil Bhi Tera Hum Bhi Tere, playing relatable everyman roles before becoming one of Bollywood’s biggest action and romantic heroes.
The actor was last seen in Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya alongside Shahid Kapoor and Kriti Sanon. His next appearance, Ikkis, starring Agastya Nanda, is scheduled for release on December 25.
