The Border Security Force (BSF) has arrested three Bangladeshi nationals for allegedly entering India illegally through the Dinhata border in Cooch Behar district. The arrests come amid heightened tensions in the state over the ongoing SIR process and growing concerns about cross-border infiltration.
According to BSF officials, personnel from the Sahebganj-Dalbari camp intercepted the three individuals during a routine patrol along the Indo-Bangladesh border. Preliminary reports suggest the trio was attempting to cross into India with the assistance of two Indian nationals, who are also being investigated.
The BSF recovered illegal Indian identity cards, cash, and several suspicious documents from the arrested individuals. After initial interrogation, the three were handed over to Sahebganj police for further investigation. Police later produced them in court, which remanded them to two days’ police custody.
Authorities are now probing the motive behind their entry and whether the arrested individuals have links to any organized network or group facilitating illegal migration across the border.
