Atleast 2 killed, over 20 injured in boiler explosion at pharma factory in Gujarat

At least two workers were killed and over 20 others injured after a boiler exploded inside a pharmaceutical factory in Gujarat’s Bharuch district early Wednesday morning. The incident occurred around 2:30 a.m. at the Vishalyakarni Pharmachem plant located in the Saykha GIDC industrial area.

The blast triggered a massive fire that engulfed the building, causing large portions of the structure to collapse. Fire brigade teams rushed to the site and battled the blaze for several hours before bringing it under control. Two workers trapped under the debris were found dead, while a third body was later recovered from the collapsed structure.

The explosion’s impact was so powerful that its sound was reportedly heard several kilometers away. Most workers managed to escape, but several sustained burn injuries and were taken to nearby hospitals. Teams from the police, health and safety department, and district administration visited the site after the fire was contained to oversee cooling and forensic examination.

Authorities have registered a case of accidental death and launched an investigation to determine what caused the boiler to explode. The factory site remains sealed as safety officials conduct a structural and chemical assessment.
